Whether popping in to sample Wadworth’s ales, 6X, Henry IPA, Bishops Tipple, Pint Size Mild – or many other ales available season to season – or staying for a hearty meal, once you’ve found The Brown Jug, you’re sure to visit time and time again.
Find classic pub grub, freshly cooked using local ingredients. Starters to nibble on while you wait for your mains also make great snacks: find crunchy croustini topped with melting Brie and cranberry, served with a mixed leaf salad; and the giant crispy potato wedges served with garlic mayonnaise dip and sweet chilli sauce are perfect for sharing. The mains provide everything you could want from a pub menu with homemade lasagne, local curly sausages with fluffy mash with onion gravy, burgers and steaks, as well as more exotic dishes such as roasted red peppers stuffed with Mediterranean cous cous and topped with melting mozzarella served with leaves and a balsamic reduction.
Desserts bring the comfort that only proper puddings can; be soothed by homemade chocolate brownie served warm with ice cream, or tuck into spotted dick and custard just like nanny used to make. Extend your stay with a choice of teas and coffees. An award-winning roast is served every Sunday – voted the Best Sunday Roast in Gloucestershire by the Echo’s Eating Out Guide – with a choice of local meats. For The over 60s can also benefit from receiving 20% off the lunchtime menu Tuesday to Saturday.
Weekly events at The Brown Jug include regular live music, poker games, live Sky/Setanta Sports and wine tasting evenings. They also boast skittles and darts facilities and there are conference and function rooms with room for 100 guests, with buffet options starting at £4.95 per person.
